Principal's Message

Dear Families:

My name is Russ Schriver, and it is my honor to be the Principal of Norco Elementary School. I would like to take this opportunity to share a little about myself.

I’m very blessed to have a wonderful wife, Jennifer, who is also an administrator in education. Together, we have four amazing kids: John is a Social Studies teacher at Auburndale Intermediate; Sarah is a sixth-grade teacher at Stallings Elementary; Daniel is studying to be a teacher at Cal. State San Marcos and Sofia is studying cosmetology.

My career in education began in 1990 and I have taught at both the elementary and jr. high levels. I became an administrator in 2000 and have served as Assistant Principal of McKinley Elementary, (2000-02), the Principal of Washington Elementary (2002-07), Coordinator in Curriculum & Instruction (2007-09); Principal VanderMolen Elementary (2009-12), Principal of Garretson Elementary, (2012-17). I have been the very proud Principal of Norco Elementary since 2017. In addition, I have coached baseball for over 12 years with Corona-National Little League.

Norco Elementary is truly amazing school. Our highly trained teachers and staff believe in the power of education, strive to understand each student’s needs and love working with school-age children. Our school is home to many exciting programs, designed to meet the various needs of students. Programs include being a GATE Magnetic Program for CNUSD, we have a diverse range of Special Education Programs, including CNUSD’s Deaf & Hard of Hearing Program. All students are enriched by both our site’s AVID program and our Positive Behavior Intervention System, (The Mustang Way). The Norco El. PTA is very involved in providing opportunities to enhance our school including our family dances, Harvest Festival, field days and school spirit activities.

I look forward to seeing and all of students and families over the coming weeks. I make a point of being in the parking lot for student drop-off/pick-up and I encourage you to introduce your student to me.

In conclusion, the key to a Great School is developing positive, meaningful connections for students, parents and teachers and I look forward to this new year!
